Nearly every time I’ve opened Instagram or TikTok over the last few weeks I’ve been greeted by a preview of an upcoming lip product launch. From saturated lipsticks and juicy lip oils to high-shine glosses and moisturizing balms, new new new is the name on everyone's lips. And if the influx of drops in the category is any predictor of trends to come in 2024, we can confidently say this year’s makeup looks are going to be centered around—you guessed it—the lips.
With so many products releasing right now, it can be seriously overwhelming to decide which ones are worth spending your money on. However, after trying nearly two dozen myself, I’m sharing everything you’ll want to know about the best of the bunch. Grab a snack and get comfortable—there’s a quite a few standouts.
Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint Lip + Cheek Blush Stain
Starting with a bang, this incredibly viral and innovative cheek and lip stain from Milk Makeup has captured the attention of TikTok users over the last few weeks. The jelly-like texture is truly unique compared to other options on the market, and it does a great job of creating a long-lasting stain on the cheeks and lips. I initially thought they might be a bit gimmicky given the funky texture, but I was wrong—it performs beautifully.
Ole Henriksen Pout Preserve Hydrating Peptide Lip Treatment
Ole Henriksen knows a thing or two about creating ultra-hydrating skincare products, so it’s no surprise that this lip balm delivers on its claims. Peptides, mango seed butter, and cloudberry oil work to give the lips moisture that lasts. The brand just released three new tinted shades, and they’re just as nourishing and juicy-looking as the original. Plus, each one has a delicious scent—my favorite is Strawberry Sorbet.
Gucci Beauty Gloss à Lèvres Hydrating Plumping Lip Gloss
If you’re a fan of lip-plumping products, you’ll want to check out this new plumping gloss from Gucci Beauty. The fun packaging is what drew me to it initially, but the performance is what’s kept me coming back. It creates a cooling, tingling sensation, offers a glassy shine, and gives the lips a temporary plump look. I also love that it smooths the appearance of my lip lines and lasts for several hours without needing to re-apply.
Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Satin Shine Lipstick
This formula isn’t new, but Charlotte Tilbury just launched five brand-new colors, each in a romantic shade of pink. The recent drop fills out the existing lineup with a pink option that will look beautiful on so many skin tones—my personal favorite is 90's Pink, a saturated rose shade that brightens my complexion and is perfect for any occasion. We especially love that the creamy formula deposits rich pigmentation in just one swipe.
Haus Labs PhD Hybrid Lip Glaze Plumping Gloss
It was love at first swipe for me and this brand new gloss from Haus Labs. Just one layer significantly blurred my lip lines, lending to fuller, smoother, more juicy-looking lips. It plumps without creating a burning or tingling sensation, making it a great option for those who are sensitive to that feeling. I also think the brand nailed the shade range—it comes in wearable pinks, browns, and a buildable red hue.
Hourglass Shape & Sculpt Lip Liner
Give your lips definition that lasts with these new lip liners from Hourglass. They offer a one-swipe color payoff, glide with ease and precision, and have impressive transfer resistance and longevity. Bonus points to the brand for including a sharpener with each pencil so it’s perfect for on-the-go applications.
Saltair Lip Oil Balm
Looking for a lip oil formula that doesn’t skimp on color payoff? Check out these lip oils from Saltair. With a true oil-like consistency that feels lightweight and nourishing thanks to coconut oil, murumuru, shea butter, it works to moisturize parched lips while depositing a healthy dose of color. And if you’re someone who can’t stand stickiness in your lip products, you’ll be pleased to know that this one doesn’t have even the slightest tacky texture.
e.l.f. Pout Clout Lip Plumping Pen
These solid lip gloss formulas in click-pen packaging have become increasingly popular over the last few months, and e.l.f. just delivered its take to the market. I was impressed the moment I first applied it. The texture is ultra-creamy and hydrating, it smooths the appearance of lip lines and offers a super shiny finish, and I love that it gives my lips a cooling (but not tingly) sensation.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Cotton Candy
Chances are you’re familiar with this iconic lip mask from Laneige. But if you’ve yet to check out this new scent, I encourage you to. When you hear cotton candy, you might imagine something sickly sweet or overly sugary, but this one has a very subtle, juicy note to it that helps balance out the sweetness. And, of course, the formula is creamy, comforting, and oh-so moisturizing.
Too Faced Kissing Jelly Non-Sticky Lip Oil Gloss
This oil and gloss hybrid offers the best of both worlds—the lightweight, non-sticky texture of an oil, and the high-shine finish of a gloss. It looks so dewy and smooth on the lips, and I love the plush, nourishing texture. I’ve been enjoying the Sour Watermelon one especially—it smells just like a watermelon Jolly Rancher.
Makeup by Mario SuperSatin Lipstick
A classic satin lipstick is a makeup bag must-have, and this one from Makeup by Mario is fantastic. It comes in 18 shades ranging from pale nude and coral to brick red and deep magenta. The texture is creamy and comfortable to wear, and the pigmentation is next-level. I’m a sucker for a good story, so I love that each shade is named after a neighborhood in New York that means something special to Mario.
Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Mask
Look no further than this gem from Naturium for a fragrance-free lip mask that offers intense overnight hydration. It calls on shea butter, avocado oil, and jojoba oil to moisturize dry lips, and the texture is lush with a shiny finish. I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks and I’ve found that it truly keeps my lips moisturized throughout the night. It feels like a luxury formula, but at just $13, it’s a great value.
Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oil
Another TikTok viral product, this new drop from Summer Fridays is the queen of non-sticky lip oils. It has a plush, gel-like texture that feels so soothing on the lips. I love that it creates a subtle cooling sensation, and while it’s not the most long-lasting, it can be layered and re-applied as needed without pilling or gumming up. It’s a perfect moisturizing lip oil to pop into your bag when you’re on the go.
Flower Beauty Gloss Crush Lip Serum
The drugstore is home to tons of great lip formulas, and this new one from Flower Beauty is among the best. With a plush, gel-like texture, it does a beautiful job of smoothing the appearance of the lips and adding moisture thanks to a blend of apricot, raspberry, and avocado oils. It’s not the slightest bit sticky, and I love that it layers beautifully on top of lip liner without breaking it down.
Lawless Jumbo Queen Sized Forget The Filler Lip Plumper Line Smoothing Gloss
This popular plumping gloss is just as good as people say it is—it smooths lip lines, lasts for hours, and gives the lips a noticeably fuller look. I’ve been using it consistently for years, so it’s safe to say I was thrilled when the brand launched the formula in this jumbo size. Along with the new size, they also released Cherry Vanilla, a sheer cherry shade that looks beautiful on all skin tones.
